ABOUT US

Smart Cats Cattery are a family run cattery.  We aim to provide luxury accommodation for cats in the West Yorkshire area.  Based on our farm within Gildersome many of the rooms have fantastic views of the countryside, the farmyard and beyond that Leeds.

We offer the highest quality of care and comfort provided by Ofqual Level 3 qualified, experienced and trained staff. We live on site and offer 24/7 care and out of hour checks.

We are cat and dog owners and we were adamant that our cattery was going to be designed with our cat in mind to keep him safe, warm and entertained.  After much research we decided to adopt the CIEH model conditions for sizes and layouts of catteries.  In October 2018 these requirements became mandatory across England, Scotland & Wales.  We then went a step beyond to ensure they had more facilities and space.  The resulting design and build may have taken two years to build but we feel that we have met our aim. We have hopefully created a place where you are happy to bring your cat in the knowledge that they will have lots of space, plenty of levels to play on and lots of interaction whilst they are with us.

The result is light, airy, and warm and all have windows to keep guests entertained.   It has high levels of insulation and central heating to ensure they are warm and is suitable shaded that they will never overheat in summer.  All our rooms are large enough for two cats to share and we can expand the sizes by using interconnecting units for up to six cats from the same household to share.

Our cattery are is purposely designed to meet the new higher standards. All bedrooms are maintained at 18 degrees or above to reflect what your cat would find in their own home. We have designed a multilayered play area and sleep area giving your cat the choices of levels on which to play and relax. Each room has two scratching posts and multiple hiding holes as well as entry doors at different levels when they want to change from the sleeping area to the run area. A ramp is provided in each room for those who are are slightly less mobile to access different levels.

Our licensing visit awarded us a 4 star rating as a licensed cattery. We were unable to gain 5 stars as we have not been running for 3 years. The licensing officer said she wished she could give us 5 stars, loved the cattery and rooms and was very flattering in her comments.

You are welcome to come and visit prior to booking so that you can see for yourself the attention to detail we have paid to produce a lovely place for your cat to stay.
